PHILFEST 2007: Florida's Largest Philippine Festival
Event Opens April 13-15, 2007

  TAMPA, Fla., Apr. 2, 2007 -- The widely popular outdoor festival will be held at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626. It is organized by the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) which owns the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center and its sprawling 10-acre grounds. The Arts Center has been described as “a new U.S. landmark” by then Gov. Jeb Bush.

For nearly 12 years now visitors have enjoyed the festival’s cultural presentations, entertainment and authentic Philippine food and delicacies.

Sitting in an open space its outdoor auditorium will showcase entertainment, cultural presentations and competitions. Exhibits will also be held at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center's Grand Sampaguita Hall.

Philippine native food and drinks are going to be sold at several booths within the festival area by participating businesses and organizations.

Guests will be assured that there will be continuous entertainment at the outdoor stage or somewhere else within the festival area all throughout the duration of PhilFest 2007.

One of the main attractions is the hilarious stand up comedian Rex Navarette. The artist had been performing throughout the United States and had been a big hit with the younger member of the audience. Navarette brings an original and refreshing fusion of American and traditional Filipino humor.

The battle of talents heats up this year this year. "Tawag ng Tanghalan" singing competition for adults is set to produce fresh talents in the entertainment arena.

There will be a cultural exhibit by community organizations at the beautiful 14,300 sq. ft. Bayanihan Arts and Events Center, showcasing a panorama of Philippine history through various elements such as tapestries, crafts, furnishings and costumes. Exhibits will be free to the public.

Grand raffle drawings for $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 could make one’s visit that of a lifetime.

The event will be capped by the annual parade showcasing the best in Philippine native dresses and shirts led by Mr. and Mrs. Philfest.
