TAMPA, Florida, Feb. 11, 2001 (Basta Pinoy) -- A great experience awaits  visitors from around the United States when they attend the Sixth Annual Philippine Festival, PhilFest 2001 on April 6, 7, and 8, 2001 at the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex, located at its 10-acre festival grounds at Nine Eagles Road, Tampa, Florida.

For those who have not been to the Philippines, a visit to the three-day affair will provide a glimpse of a Philippine barrio fiesta, that showcases the rich Filipino culture and heritage.

From the intricate and delicately detailed cultural dances to Filipino delicacies such as "ginatan", "bibingka", "halo-halo" served at barrio-inspired booths, Philippine martial-arts demonstrations, singing competition, a wide array of fun and entertainment for the young ones, and learning awaits visitors. 

For Filipino-Americans born here in America, this would be a great opportunity to experience their heritage and discover their roots.

"Consulate-On-Wheels"


Coming to Tampa for PhilFest 2001, "Consulate-On-Wheels"  will be headed by Consul General Genoroso G. Calonge and Consul Henry Bensurto.
All transactions, passport applications and renewals, authentications, etc. must be paid in cash or Money Order / Cashiers Check ONLY. Mo personal checks will be accepted.

ALL passport renewal applicants must bring the following:

  •  2 most recent passport size photos / no glasses / with sleeves
  •  Money Order / Cash of $60.00 renewal fee plus $14 mailing fee (if applicable) 
  •  Philippine passport (expired or not)
  •  Copy of status visa in the U.S. (Green Card, Working Permit, etc.)

For name changes on passport, add the following:

  • original plus one copy of Marriage Certificate
  • copy of divorse papers (if applicable)

For Lost Passport replacements: Call the embassy at (202) 467-9300

For passports applications and renewals, please bring also a pre-paid / pre-stamped, self address FedEx or Express Mail envelope or, an additional $14 to the $60 fee, per application for the embassy to mail back their new passports. There will be no passports issued at PhilFest like last year.

Applications will be accepted and passports will be mailed directly to the applicants aftre PhilFest. All passport renewal applicants MUST bring with them cash, Money Order or Cashiers Chek paya to: EMABSSY OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Fees for all consular matters are as follows:

  • Regular passport renewal $ 60.00 
  • Passport amendment $ 20.00 
  • Lost passport $ 110.00 
  • Travel documents $ 30.00 
  • Extention of Re-Entry Permit $ 150.00 
  • Solemnization of Marriage $ 60.00 
  • Authentication of documents $ 25.00 
  • Deposition (per page) $ 25.00 Report of Birth / Marriage/ Death $ 25.00 
  • Other Certifcates $ 25.00

04:30 pm PhilFset 2001 officially opens with Philippine music provided by Aba Villagomeza and Dr. William Cua.
07:00 pm "Tawag ng Tanghalan" statewide championship singing contest.  Introduction of "Mr.& Mrs. PhilFest 2001" participants.
09:00 pm  "Disco Dancing under the stars" at the "Sinagtala Theater" with Filipino guest DJ's.
12:00 am  PhlFest closes.
   
SATURDAY April 7, 2001
10:30 am  Philippine music provided by Aba Villagomeza and Dr. William Cua.
12:30 pm Philippine Arnis & other Martial Arts demonstration by YUNG HO TAEKWONDO of Lutz School.
01:00 pm Live music from the "BAD HABITS" Philippine band.
02:00 pm "Kaleidoscope of Philippine Talents" featuring local singeer, dancers and musicians like The Philippine Ladies of McDill Air Force Base dancers, The "Maharlika" Performing Arts Group of Beverlye Hills, Florida, Miss Melissa Santiano, Mr. Victo Omila, Mr. Kristopher Villagomeza, Miss Ramiele Mabulbay, Miss Pearl Ocampo, the Pual Lee & the KBoys Breakdancers from Orlando, Mr. Darell Sanchez, Mis Connie Chanrasmi, Miss Gloria Valera, and more.....

06:00 pm "Flores de PhilFest 2001" Grand Procession produce by Jojo Lontok with beautiful 38 reynas and sagalas headed by the outgoing "Mr. & Mrs. PhilFest 2001" winners Roger Caculitan & Bing Curioso of ILOCANO USA, and all the "Mr. & Mrs. PhilFest 2001" participants. Immediately followed by the awarding of "Best Decorated Arco"
