Vanessa: At home as 'contravida'
MANILA, Sept. 19 -- Vanessa del Bianco is displaying flexibility as an actress -- she is the protagonist in the recently launched sitcom "Atta Girl" but she is also the delectable villainess in the top-rating soap opera "Pangako Sa 'Yo."

Surprisingly, even as she admits to being confronted sometimes by her co-star Kristine Hermosa's fans for her boyfriend-stealing character Bea Bianca, she claimed to enjoy being a contravida.

"They go 'Why do you oppress Yna?' I tell them 'Why do get affected? That's only in Pangako Sa 'Yo.' They say 'No, we know that you're like this and that,'" Vanessa said. "I really don't mind (things like that). I guess I'm effective and good as a contravida," she added.

Vanessa, who also co-hosts the popular noontime show "Magandang Tanghali Bayan (MTB)," said she was challenged to portray mean characters when she first watched Gladys Reyes making life hard for Judy Ann Santos in the defunct drama series
"Mara Clara."

"Even before I entered show business here in the Philippines, I already wanted to be a contravida. When I saw Gladys Reyes in 'Mara Clara,' I became more convinced that it's nice to portray such kind of role," she said.

When asked if she also has someone special who serves as her inspiration in her career, Vanessa, who is no stranger to controversy where love life is concerned, quipped: "I'm in love with life!"
