Santamaria in Nov. 7th General Elections

Significant lead a mandate -- Santamaria

ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. Sep 11, 2006 (Basta Pinoy News) -- With September 5th’s voting results remaining unofficial as of today, it appears that Democratic candidate Jess Santamaria will face Republican candidate John Carroll and no-party Penny Riccio in the Nov. 7th general election.

The three are vying for the County Commission District 6 seat being vacated by outgoing Commission Chairman Tony Masilotti.

According to the latest report on Sep. 6th at 2:22 p.m. posted on the Supervisor of Elections web site, Santamaria, led the Democrats with 42.12% (3,356 votes) and Carrol, leading the Republicans with 42.8% (2,210 votes).

In an interview with Filam TV Santamaria said that "The results of the primary election gave him the mandate he needs to make governmental changes”

During his campaign, Santamaria was attacked by a developer-funded electioneering communication organization (ECO) called Progressive Citizens for Truth, Inc.

Supporters deplored the attacks.

Santamaria told Filam TV that “he welcomed the negative attacks as it was a test on the 30 years of his commitment to his community”

Mr. Santamaria said he looks forward to the official announcements of election results.
