IN BUSINESS

updated on 15 October 2007

Fernando Solis: Mr. Entertainment

For Filipinos there is nothing like being home than sitting down in front of a television set watching a favorite show, a Filipino show.

Filipino entertainment programming has been around in the United States for more than a decade. In its early years Philippine broadcast media companies established its own sales network mostly composed of independent contractors and installers throughout the nation.

For Fernando Solis, founder and president of PINOY ATBP Satellite Wireless, Inc. it was an opportunity to do business in an industry he feels attached to.

“I’ve previously worked in a technical firm, so getting involved in providing entertainment through electronics and digital means got my interest.”

Solis was one of the original providers of ABS-CBN International’s popular TFC (The Filipino Channel) programming service. He became well known in the entertainment community too because of his wide contacts with Television and Movie personalities.

“I enjoy providing homes and families with their entertainment needs,” said Solis.
“Quality service is a number one concern for my customers, and I give it to them 100 percent and more.”

With the tremendous growth of satellite and digital entertainment, Solis moved into the mainstream market by establishing a DirecTV dealership.
Due to excellent marketing and service track record, Solis has been designated as an official DirecTV Preferred Dealer.
“Its an honor to be distinguished as a preferred dealer, not everyone gets a chance to be tapped by DirecTV as such,“ said a pleased Solis.

As impressive as his accomplishment perhaps is the showroom and viewing room Solis created at his Jacksonville headquarters.
“I made sure those interested in satellite entertainment get a chance to experience it first,” explained Solis.

“That is why my showroom includes a viewing room complete with home theater sound system. Here customers can sit down and relax on the sofa. Its here where they can have a great experience watching a Digital or
HDTV program we offer from DirecTV, ABS-CBN TFC Direct Channels, and GMA TV channel.”

Perhaps aside from his customer oriented manner, Solis is distinguished as the only Filipino DirecTV Preferred Dealer in Jacksonville and the market area he services.

Solis started PINOY ATBP Satellite Wireless Source in 1998 as an Independent Dealer and Installer of ABS-CBN International TFC (The Filipino Channel Direct!). While serving the Filipino-American community, he pursued a goal of offering a complete line of products and reliable installation service that would provide and satisfy the needs of subscribers.

With his success in reaching out to Filipino and Non-Filipino clientelle, Solis expanded his business into other communications products. His company is also an Authorized T-Mobile Dealer and Authorized Moneygram Agent. Recently he became a Clearwire Internet Authorized dealer.

“In essence, my company provides full service to the client’s entertainment and communication needs,” said Solis. (Filamnewsdigest)
