Desiderio flashed a finely toned figure that would look smashing in any
superheroine's costume.
Filipinos who truly make a splash in the international scene
are a rarity. Thus, we locals heap attention upon these chosen few, even
those who are only part-Pinoy and are about as local as
Stalin, he's part-Filipino, and he's made it in Hollywood with his poor
man's Adam cultural connection he has with the Philippines is a
reference to bibingka and a smattering of
labor-force jokes.
Jenine Desiderio, however, is cut from a different cloth.
The curvaceous singer will forever be placed in the same pantheon as Lea

Miss Saigon. She landed the prestigious role thanks in no small
part to her awesome vocal range and her irresistible Asian looks.
After a lamentably brief foray into comedy, in which she

Solis parody, she returned to her roots as a singer and recording
artist. She eventually scored at hit with "Hindi Ako Si Darna,"her
irresistibly campy adaptation of Karyn White's "Superwoman." |
