  Lana shrugs off 'Playboy' past

MANILA, Sept. 12

Revelations that international model-turned-TV star Lana Asanin once posed nude for Playboy magazine shocked the Filipino audience who apparently bought her wholesome personality hook, line and sinker.

In an interview, Lana said she never tried to hide the fact
that she had posed for Playboy when she was only 14 years old.

She said that at such young age, she had started modeling, touring Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Singapore, Thailand and Hongkong doing fashion shows.

"I don't know. I'm just very simple and this is something
that was before and I wasn't really sure that's a big deal in the Philippines. I didn't know," she said.

The 22-year-old Lana was born in Germany and raised by her Yugoslav mother and Spanish father.

She admitted that her Playboy stint came as a shock to her parents when they first learned about it.

"Oh yeah. I didn't tell them because my parents are very
conservative, like Filipinos. (They share the) same mentality. Of
course they were, like, not very happy. But after that they
realized they were very happy," she said.

Lana said it was her agency in Germany that talked her into posing for Playboy. She was paid $20,000, which was considered a hefty talent fee that time.

"The reason, I think, why I said yes is because I was so
interested in it and I like it. I mean, the people who posed for the magazine and all those actresses and all the fame, the celebrities. Some of them are really...they are models, Hollywood stars, like that, so I think that's one of the reason why I said yes. Wow! I was so happy," she enthused.

Her pictorial for Playboy took about a week to finish. Lana
claimed she was not completely uninhibited, but she never felt that the magazine exploited her.

"I was actually very confident because they were really nice. They were like only four people. There was just a photographer, the assistant, a make-up artist and some...there was one girl, the rest were all like gays," she said.

When asked if she is worried that the revelation would affect her career as a commercial model, Lana said on the contrary, her sponsors have been very supportive of her.

Lana, who has appeared in a Shell commercial, Nescafe and Bensons Eclair, among others, added that she is aware her Filipino fans are kids, students and mothers.

"I just got an offer from Shell to pose for their calendar.
I don't think that would affect (my career), I'm really surprised even with the fans. They've been very supportive and so nice," she said.

Meanwhile, Lana denied that her hosting stint on the daily
noontime show Eat Bulaga was cut short because talk spread that host Vic Sotto was courting her.

Saying she is attracted to the bad boy type like screen
heartthrob Jericho Rosales, Lana said she remains loveless since her Thai boyfriend broke her heart three years ago.

She, however, said she wouldn't mind marrying a Filipino.

"Why not? As of now I really love it here. I like the people
here. I have no problems, you know," she said. (SNS)
