Luis OK with gay roles
I’VE always admired Luis Alandy’s kind of acting. He excels in both good
or bad roles.
He has no qualms of essaying even a most controversial gay role that
includes a man-to-man kissing scene, as long as it’s relevant to the
story.
We asked him: How do you handle an indecent proposal from a gay? Are you
for or against it?
“No, I have nothing against gay relationships. It’s their preference,
it’s their choice. I’ll just tell then I’m straight, that it wasn’t the
way I was brought up, it’s not my sexual preference. So I’ll make it
clear that I have my limits. I play around with my gay friends, but I
know my boundaries.”

married until his girlfriend (Glaiza de Castro) finds
out he’s gay, and that you’re his boyfriend. If it
happens that before your wedding date you discover your
girl is a lesbian, how will you handle such a situation?
“Just like before, when Desiree del Valle was my
girlfriend. She was rumored to have married another girl
in the States. |

Sa akin kasi, whatever is her past, it’s none of my
business anymore. What’s important to me is the present
and what we have. But if it happened within our
relationship and I found that out, I’ll definitely get
out of the relationship.”
Aren’t you worried of typecasting? After Brokeback
Mountain, gay movies have mushroomed. If you’re offered
another gay role, how far will you go?
“I’ve been doing character roles in the past ... but,
hopefully, not another gay part. It’s hard to be known
for just one type of role; offers will be limited.
Actually, I find it very challenging to portray gay
roles.
“As an actor, I don’t limit myself into doing only what
is offered to me. It will defend on the character to be
portrayed, the story, how is it gonna be directed, the
actors you gonna work with. I don’t mind doing those
love scenes, but how relevant are they to the story?
“I’m doing a movie with Direk Gil Portes in Greece with
Agot Isidro, Alessandra de Rossi and Ricky Davao. And
there’s another soap opera, hopefully to start this
month, with ABS-CBN.”
Manay Po, directed by Joel Lamangan, hits theaters
starting May 31. A red-carpet premiere night is
scheduled on May 29 at SM Megamall.
Cherie Pie Picache leads the cast with her three gay
sons: Polo Ravales, John Prats and Jiro Manio. With
